1. Orville Brown was the reigning MWA(Midwest Wrestling Association) Heavyweight Champion and was awarded the NWA Heavyweight title when the MWA combined with the NWA.
2. Lou Thesz unifies the NWA(National Wrestling Alliance) Heavyweight title & the NWA(National Wrestling Assocation) Heavyweight title on July 20, 1948. He recieved the NWA(National Wrestling Alliance) title on November 27, 1949 when Orville Brown was injured in a car accident and couldn't defend the title. Lou Thesz then went to unify the titles of the AWA(American Wrestling Assocation) title on July 27, 1950 and with the title recognized by Los Angeles Olympic Auditorium wrestling on May 21, 1952. 4. Lou Thesz loses the title to Edouard Carpentier by DQ on June 14, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois, but NWA rules prohibit the title change because the NWA title cannot change hands due to an injury and the belt was given back to Thesz. Promoters in the Northeast of the United States refuses to recognize Buddy Rogers's one fall loss to Lou Thesz, thus breaking away from the National Wrestling Alliance to form a new promotion called the World Wide Wrestling Federation(WWF later the WWE) and naming Rogers as the first WWWF Heavyweight Champion. Lou Thesz defeated Rogers in a rematch on Febrary 7, 1963 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
6. Ric Flair wrestled to a double count out against WWF Heavyweight Champion, Bob Backlund, on July 4, 1982 in Atlanta, Georgia.
7. On February 9, 1982 in Tampa, Florida, the Midnight Rider defeated Ric Flair for the NWA title, but the Midnight Rider returned the title belt when NWA President, Bob Geigel, asked the Midnight Rider to unmask and reveal who he is. 8. Ric Flair wrestled against AWA Heavyweight Champion, Rick Martel, to a double count out on October 2, 1985 in Tokyo, Japan.
9. Ric Flair was stripped of the NWA title on September 8, 1991 when Flair signed with the WWF. He took the recognized NWA title belt with him and called himself the "Real World's Heavyweight Champion." On the same date, the NWA vacated the title for the first time in its history.
10. Masahiro Chono defeated Rick Rude in a tournament final.
11. In September of 1993, WCW left the NWA and the title belt dropped the recognition as being the NWA title. The belt became known as the WCW International World Heavyweight title with Ric Flair becoming the first champion.
12. Shane Douglas defeated 2 Cold Scorpio in the tournament final. After the match, Douglas threw down the NWA title belt and claimed himself the ECW Heavyweight Champion. On the same night, NWA/ECW(Eastern Championship Wrestling) left the NWA and became known as Extreme Championship Wrestling.
13. Chris Candido defeated Tracey Smothers in a tournament final.
14. Gary Steele won the title in a Three Way Match when Ogawa pinned Anthony & Steele pinned Ogawa.
15. Title was vacated on July 2, 2000.
16. Mike Rapada defeats Jerry Flynn in a tournament final.
17. Title held up after a match against Shin'ya Hashimoto on October 13, 2001 in St Petersburg, Florida when Corino is unable to continue due to injury.
18. Shin'ya Hashimoto defeats Gary Steele & Steve Corino in a Round Robin Ironman match to win the held up title.
19. Dan Severn was stripped of the title in May 28, 2002 by unanimous vote of the NWA Board of Directors for not being able to schedule a title defense on June 19th.
20. Ken Shamrock defeated Malice(aka The Wall) to win the title. A Gauntlet Battle Royal was held to determine the two finalists the participants were: Jeff Jarrett, Buff Bagwell, Lash Leroux, Norman Smiley, Gran Apollo, Ron Killings, Slash, Del Rios, Justice, Konnan, Bruce(Alan Funk), Rick Steiner, Malice(The Wall), Scott Hall, Steve Corino, Ken Shamrock, & Brian Christopher. Ricky Steamboat entered the ring to be special ref between Shamrock & Malice.
21. Unified the title with the WWA World Wrestling All-Stars) Heavyweight Title when he defeated Sting for the title on May 25, 2003 in Auckland, New Zealand

28. Jeff Jarrett won the "King of the Mountain" match between Jarrett, Sting, Christian Cage, Ron Killings, and Abyss. New Director of Authority James Cornette came out and took the title from Jarrett and declared it vacant, but soon gave it back to Jarrett seeing that he did win the match and that just handing it to someone else wouldn't be right.

30. Christian Cage beat Abyss & Sting in a Three Way Elimination Match. On May 13, 2007 the NWA ended its deal of letting TNA use the NWA World titles and strips Christian Cage and Team 3D of their belts.
31. Defeated Brent Albright in the finals of the Reclaiming the Glory Tournament. Adam Pearce was a substitute for Bryan Danielson, who defeated Pearce in the semi-finals, but withdrew from the tournament due to a detached retina.
